● 1 in 3 Malaysians suffer from mental health issues ● More than 30% of 16-30 year olds face mental health problems ● 61% of Malaysians believe sufferers are to be blamed for their condition. ● 80% of our professionals report that among their clients, family is the biggest discriminator ● Waiting time to see a mental health professional can be up to a year
We believe that mental health is one of the most critical determinants to physical health, personal wellness, and good quality of life. The above statistics and unfortunate widespread of stigma of mental health in Malaysia is worrying. This stigma is based on ignorance, culminates in discrimination, and results in suffering.
These effects especially ring true for the most vulnerable groups in our community: our women and children.
We will not stop until going to the psychologist for mental health problems is recognized and accepted in the same light as going to the doctor for medical problems.
We ask for your donations to help us do the needful: ● Connect women and child trauma survivors to accessible individual, family & community mental health services ● Develop socially responsible practitioners ● Provide accessible behavioural health services ● Build healthy & inclusive communities ● Challenge stigma of mental health
With this funding, women and children trauma survivors can begin to heal and cope with the trauma that they have faced and be ready to face the world, stronger.
WE EXIST BECAUSE WE BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NO HEALTH WITHOUT MENTAL HEALTH.
